Jim Lammers has enjoyed performing solo guitar music at more than 600 weddings over the last 20 years. These ceremonies have included everything from formal services in cathedrals with 12 bridesmaids in the wedding party and over 500 guests--to casual backyard ceremonies involving only the bridal couple and 2 guests. So whether you are planning a large or intimate ceremony, you deserve the best--Jim Lammers will bring a depth of professional experience to your special day and he will truly appreciate the performance opportunity.
Solo guitar music performed live for your wedding by Jim Lammers, will create a warm atmosphere that welcomes the guests to your event. The wedding music performance typically "surrounds" the actual ceremony. Before the ceremony begins, a soft guitar artistry will greet your guests as they arrive. This prelude music usually starts 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. When the actual ceremony begins, your specific processional requests are played for the wedding party entrances to help create the perfect mood for the ceremony you imagined. During the ceremony, you may decide that you want a special solo piece to be played or there may be a moment that is appropriate for some background interlude music--such as during candle lighting, sand ceremony, etc. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a recessional piece is played as the wedding party exits. This is followed by post-ceremony music that maintains the atmosphere as your guests leave. A live solo guitar performance at your reception includes upbeat and romantic selections amplified at the appropriate sound level to provide an enjoyable background ambience for your celebration. Although every couple will have specific tastes and needs for the wedding ceremony and reception music, here is an outline of the music service that is typically played:
•Prelude Music - to welcome your guests upon their arrival (30 minutes)
•Processional Music - to accompany the wedding party and bridal entrances
•Interlude Music - to perform a special selection during the ceremony
•Recessional Music - to accompany the wedding party departure
•Postlude Music - to maintain the ambience as your guests exit
•Reception Music - to create an elegant atmosphere during cocktails/dinner (1-3 Hours)
Sound production is an important component at your wedding so that your guests can enjoy the live music. Jim Lammers will supply any guitar amplification needed at your venue and monitor it at the appropriate level. Also, if your wedding venue is not set up with the necessary vocal amplification for your officiant and any readers, Jim Lammers can provide and monitor a professional sound system for anyone who is speaking. (The general recommendation is to use a vocal microphone when there are more than 50 guests.) This sound system would include a lapel microphone for your officiant and a handheld microphone for readers--making a complete music performance and sound production services package.
Jim Lammers will meet with you in advance to plan the performance service details and choose the ceremony music. If you are not in the Kansas City area and available to meet in person, the planning may take place by phone and email. From traditional pieces such as the “Bridal Song” to popular contemporary selections--the music you choose will reflect who you are as a couple. (A sample song list of favorites is available on this page Sample Song List. If you have special requests that are not on the list, please ask.) After the planning has taken place, Jim Lammers will then provide a service agreement to assure you of his commitment to your special day. The written agreement will include the specifics regarding playlist, time, location, sound system needs, fee, attire, and any other details that need to be confirmed to help make your day perfect.
